Winter Jam 2010: Reading

Robert Pierre - Sunday, February 07, 2010

Well today we make history. That’s right, history! Today is the first Winter Jam Thursday of 2010! It is really exciting to start a four day weekend and see what it’s like to do four events in a row. I’m really looking foreword to it. In addition, Winter Jam is making history because we’ve never been in the city of Reading, Pennsylvania… so we weren’t sure what to expect.

Okay, so I’m getting a little self-conscious about talking about the cold all the time, but boy is it cold! It’s FREEZING up here! I must be a total wimp… but after a rather pleasant, sunny afternoon a bitter cold settled in with the darkness and it’s shocking. Enough about that. They call it “Winter Jam” because it’s set in the WINTER, so I’m just gonna have to get over it (or perhaps make a plea that the tour consider another season next year?). LOL. Besides that, tonight was really good. I think that since this is the first time Winter Jam has come to Reading, people didn’t come to the arena as early as they usually do. So, for most of the pre-show sets, including mine, the arena was only about half full. Bummer. Eventually though, the stadium filled up with a bunch of rowdy people. It was my favorite set up where everyone right around the stage could stand. I love that! You just feel like you can really connect with people when they are so close. The night was a lot of fun.

Now, as I said in some of my previous blogs, I have been looking to get some basketball games going among the crew and I think I finally got it! I talked to Tony Nolan, the Revive guys, and the Tenth Ave. guys and soon we’ll be on! As you may be able to tell, I’m really excited to play! I think it will be a lot of fun get these guys off the stage and on the court.

Tomorrow the Newsboys will not be performing with us in Cleveland. I guess they had a commitment they’d made before Winter Jam and so they’re going to Canada to do a show up there. In their place, Thousand Foot Krutch will be filling in for the day. I’ve never seen them before and I’m looking forward to their show… I’ll let you know how it goes and oh, I almost forgot, did you know that Oak trees do not produce acorns until they are 50 years of age or older?
